The structure
Surrounded by olive trees and guarded by the charming bell tower of the San Dalmazio Church, the Residence Il Monastero is a place to enjoy peace, nature and silence as in an ancient cloister.
Originally, the Residence Il Monastero was an annex of the church of the small San Dalmazio village with which it formed a Benedictine monastery complex built in the first half of the 12th century by a local nobleman so that his daughter could immediately become abbess. In 2003, the monastery was sold to renovate the church and was tunred into a tourist facility. Around it there’s a beautiful olive grove planted by the parish priest – a man of faith but also a passionate farmer – and from which today Tuscan extra virgin olive oil is obtained. In addition to hospitality, the authentic vocation of the residence is promoting clean energy. In fact, it is possible to enjoy the swimming pool overlooking the countryside even during the winter, thanks to the district heating coming from the nearby Larderello power plant.
